Children living in Needham and born between May 1, 1989 and April 30, 2000 are eligible to play in the Spring 2008 Little League/Babe Ruth Season

To Register: 

1. Click on the Registration and/or Update Player Information button above or below.
    
2. Login by entering the player’s phone number and first name and pressing submit.
    
3. Complete all the fields on the player information page and press submit.
    
4. WE NOW ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENT.  Fees have been lowered from last year.

Fees:    $175 for the first child
            $150 for the second child
            $125 for each subsequent child

The fee increase originally scheduled for February 1 has been eliminated.

Registration closes when teams fill up or by April 1, 2008, whichever comes first.

No Refunds will be issued after March 1, except for 16-18 year old players who make the JV or Varsity Baseball teams.

If you DO NOT live in Needham, but attend school in Needham and wish to play, we will gladly apply for the required waiver from National Little League Headquarters and with their approval you will be eligible to play in our league.  Please email Jay Doonan at jjdoonan@verizon.net, prior to registering.

Our Program

We operate in the Spring with practice in March and April and games and practices running from late April through late-June.

We offer 7 divisions or leagues that are both age and skill based:

• A non-competitive Single A Little League division for all 8 year olds.
   
• An instructional and competitive Double A Little League division with playoffs for players 9 to 11 years old.
   
• A competitive Triple A Little League division with playoffs for 10 to 12 year olds.
   
• A highly competitive Majors Little League division with playoffs for 11 and 12 year olds. Returning Major League 12 year olds remain with the same team they were on as a 11 year old.
   
• An instructional and competitive Babe Ruth Prep League with playoffs played on a full-sized diamond for 13 and 14 year olds.
   
• A highly competitive Babe Ruth Senior League with playoffs played on a full-sized diamond for 13 to 15 year olds. Returning Senior League 14 and 15 year olds remain with the same team they were on the previous year.
   
• A competitive Babe Ruth 16-18 League with playoffs played on a full-sized diamond for 16-18 year olds.

Who Can Sign Up and for What?

• BB AGE 8: If your child was born between May 1, 1999 and April 30, 2000 they will be an 8 year old in our league and will be assigned to a Single A team (there are no tryouts for 8 year olds).  If you have questions regarding this level please contact Fred Gjerstad at rgjerstad@comcast.net
   
• BB AGE 9: If your child was born between May 1, 1998 and April 30, 1999 they will be a 9 year old in our league and will be assigned to a Double A team (there are no tryouts for 9 year olds). If you have questions regarding this level please contact Jim Windhorst at jcwindhorst@msn.com
   
• BB AGE 10: If your child was born between May 1, 1997 and April 30, 1998 they will be a 10 year old in our league and will be assigned to a either a Double A or Triple A team (they must tryout to be eligible for Triple A, if they do not tryout they will be placed on a Double A team). • BB AGE 11: If your child was born between May 1, 1996 and April 30, 1997 they will be a 11 year old in our league and will be assigned to a either a Triple A team or a Majors team (they must tryout to be eligible for Majors, if they do not tryout they will be placed on a Triple A team). • BB AGE 12: If your child was born between May 1, 1995 and April 30, 1996 they will be a 12 year old in our league and will be assigned to a either a Triple A team or a Majors team (they must tryout to be eligible for Majors, if they do not tryout they will be placed on a Triple A team). Please note all 12 year olds who wish to be on a Majors team WILL be on a Majors team as long as they tryout.  If you have questions regarding this level please contact Dan Rabinovitz at rabinovitz@comcast.net
   
• BB AGE 13: If your child was born between May 1, 1994 and April 30, 1995 they will be a 13 year old in our league and will be assigned to a Prep team (they must tryout to be eligible to be an option player for a Senior team, if they do not tryout they will be placed on a Prep team).  Please note that 13 year olds who tryout and are chosen as option players will be assigned to a Prep team which will be their first priority, they MAY be asked to practice or fill-in with the Senior team that selected them.  If you have questions regarding this level please contact Howard Fisher at hsfisher@greenbaumnagel.com
   
• BB AGE 14: If your child was born between May 1, 1993 and April 30, 1994 they will be a 14 year old in our league and will be assigned to a either a Prep team or a Senior team (they must tryout to be eligible for Senior, if they do not tryout they will be placed on a Prep team).  If you have questions regarding this level please contact Harry Raphael at hraphaelbr@gmail.com
   
• BB AGE 15: If your child was born between May 1, 1992 and April 30, 1993 they will be a 15 year old in our league and will be assigned to a Senior team (they must tryout or have played Prep the previous year to be eligible for Senior, if they do not tryout and did not play in Prep last year they will be placed on a Prep team).  If you have questions regarding this level please contact Harry Raphael at hraphaelbr@gmail.com
   
• BB AGE 16-18: If your child was born between May 1, 1989 and April 30, 1992 they will be a 16, 17 or 18 year old in our league and will be assigned to a 16-18 team. (there are no tryouts for 16-18).  If you have questions regarding this level please contact Tom Jacob at tmjacob@comcast.net

Tryouts

• 8 year olds do not tryout and will be placed on a Single A team.
• 9 year olds do not tryout and will be placed on a Double A team.
• 10 year olds tryout and will be placed on a Double A or Triple A team.  If they do not tryout they will be placed on a Double A team.
• 11 year olds tryout and will be placed on a Triple A or Majors team.  If they do not tryout they will be placed on a Triple A team.
• 12 year olds tryout and will be placed on a Majors team.  If they do not tryout they will be placed on a Triple A team.
• 13 year olds tryout and will be placed on a Prep team and may also be an option player for a Senior team.  If they do not tryout they will be placed on a Prep team and will not be eligible to be an option player.
• 14 year olds tryout and will be placed on a Prep or Senior team.  They may also become an option player.  If they do not tryout they will be placed on a Prep team and will not be eligible to be an option player.
• 15 year olds tryout and will be placed on a Senior team.  If they do not tryout they will be placed on a Prep team unless they played on a Prep team in the previous year in which case they will be placed on a Senior team.
• 16 to 18 year olds do not tryout and will be placed on a 16-18 League team.

Tryout notices appear on this web site, in the local papers, via email and in school bulletins. 

Tryouts for the 2008 season have been completed and no additional tryouts will be held.

The Little League & Babe Ruth age limits are very strict.  Please refer to the table below to ascertain your child's Baseball Age. No exceptions can be made for any reason.  Children born on or after May 1, 2000 are not eligible for the 2008 Spring season.
