I'm new to Needham Little League, how do I get started?

The process is simple and done online.

What is East/West?

National Little League requires that towns with populations in excess of 20,000 divide their leagues.  Needham Little League until 2008 was divided geographically into two areas:  East and West.

In 2008 we will now have two leagues named American and National Leagues for A, AA, AAA and Majors.

Any registered player may be placed in either the American or National Leagues.  For Single A and Double A we attempt to honor friend requests and then place players with school mates.  Late Registrants may not be able to be with friends or school mates if teams are already formed.  At all older levels, teams are not formed by schools by are put together in an attempt to balance teams.

How do I know if I'm in the East or in the West?

Please see answer above as we no longer need to know if you are from the East or West side of town.

I would like my child to be on a team with friends, is that possible?

It is possible, but not guaranteed.  At the Single A and Double A level every effort is made to grant these wishes.  For the most part teams at these levels are formed by school.  If you are interested in making a request, please include it in the comments section of the online registration and/or email the appropriate contact person on the About Us & Contacts page.

We apologize, but at the AAA, Majors and Babe Ruth Levels these requests can not be granted.  Teams are formed to be competitively balanced and such requests become difficult, if not impossible to accommodate.  We hope you understand and thank you for refraining from making such requests.

I can't make tryouts, what should I do?

If you are not able to make the Fall Tryout, there may be a supplemental tryout in December or January, but this is not a certainty.  In addition, the Fall tryout is much more extensive and provides the best chance to display a players skill level.

Little League (BB Ages 8-12)
There are no tryouts for 8 or 9 year olds.
10 year olds should tryout to help the League place them on a AA or AAA team.
Tryouts are mandatory for 11 and 12 year olds who wish to make the Majors and are not already on a Majors team.

Babe Ruth (BB Ages 13-15)
All players not currently on a Senior League team, must tryout.

Please let the appropriate contact person on the About Us & Contacts page know about your issue.

We moved to town after the Fall tryout, can I still tryout?
