Hello!  This is Steve Lightfoote and I'll be the coach of the Engineers for K/1 Spring Softball team.  I'm really looking forward to this season with the goal of helping foster and grow our team's skills and love of Softball.  While I have a lot of experience playing the game and some experience coaching in other sports, this will be my first time participating in and coaching Needham girls softball so please bear with me as I get up to speed on how to run the show.  We're also very fortunate to have some great assistant coaches and expert instruction from Frozen Ropes.

I know the league officials are very communicative and the website has a lot of information, but please let me know if you have questions before the season starts.  Also, please let me know if you are interested in helping out as an assistant.  The more the merrier in my opinion and in my experience the more people we have helping out setting up / breaking down drills or providing small group instruction the better off we'll be.

Some notes about Gamedays:

• I encourage players and coaches to arrive roughly 15 minutes prior to game time.

• Games officially start at 6:00p on weeknights.

• Games will start off with 20-30 minutes of practice and drills.

• Games should end 7:15 to 7:30 depending on where we are in an inning.

• Weather: Managers/Coaches/Parents should refer to Needham Park and Recreation for field closures at http://www.needhamma.gov/index.aspx?NID=238. They will update the site every weekday by 3:00pm. There is a “Notify Me” link where you can to sign up for email or text field status updates.
